Building on systematic reviews (in submission) by Collaborator Chen and CIA that found an association between air pollution and cognitive decline in young, middle-aged and older adults (eg.,39,40) we will conduct the first ever evaluation of the link between air pollution and cognitive function in Australia. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) using AURIN (Australian Urban Research Infrastructure Network) will be used (with AI Marks) to estimate weighted road density (an index of traffic-related air pollution) at the geocoded address of individuals to estimate exposure to particulate matter; Datasets: AusDiab; DYNOPTA; HILDA. CRE will fund data linkage with GIS.
