The CRE will fund the development of a series of guidelines for cognitive health promotion and prevention of cognitive impairment. For example, Professor Lautenschlager is developing a collaboration with the NHMRC Partnership Centre in Cognitive Decline to prepare Australian Guidelines for Physical activity (PA) in persons with cognitive impairment and dementia, this will be extended to guidelines on PA for cognitive health in chronic disease, and normal ageing. Guidelines on urban environments will be developed by Professor Cerin under guidance from our Steering committee and in collaboration with Stakeholders (including the Planning Institute of Australia). Guidelines on cognitive activity (mental fitness and keeping mentally active) will be developed by Professor Clare, who has published widely in the area including a recent Cochrane Review on cognitive training interventions to prevent cognitive decline.
